One. Another. a workshop overview
This workshop invites participants to find ease, challenge and pleasure in being alongside difference, and co-existing on the move. No prior formal movement experience is required: come as you are.
It’s about movement and connection. Moving, between me and you. Letting our attentions wander, together... from a curiosity about my own physical experience, to a curiosity about what you're doing, over there. About how the way you move might move me. About how we might move together. About seeing/ sensing and being seen/ sensed.
The workshop begins with guided individual movement explorations to arrive in the body and awaken a sense of physical possibility and playfulness. We'll then work in pairs, small groups and as a whole group to begin to settle into, and inhabit, this space as a shared site for improvised performance practice. I'll propose some movement scores/ suggestions, and we'll begin to see what might happen through shifting these into a more performative mode: working from an understanding of 'performance' as about discovery, rather than display. Including time for discussion and reflecting together. With a great playlist, sometimes voices, sometimes silence.

It’s about movement and connection. Moving, between me and you. The space that opens up between us. How one thing might - will - lead to another. Movement as ephemeral material, felt for a moment. About how the way you move might move me. About dancing together, even after you’ve gone. And about how one small, unassuming action, image, sound, idea can build and build - in the mind, in the body, in the space between us - until it takes on a life of its own.
5th - 10th June a week of movement performance research, including some open rehearsals and drop-in chats along the way
