body moving
We spend so much of our lives in our heads....
body moving is a practical, open research project, inviting people to join me in activities that re-connect us with some of the ease, challenge and joy of simply being a body on the move.
Move first. Think afterwards.
Less talk. More action.
With other bodies. And expert tuition. And brilliant music. In a venue near you.
Future sessions from March 2024, to be announced soon.

body moving (pilot programme)
West Cornwall. Spring 2024
This pilot programme of classes centres on gentle body conditioning, movement fundamentals and dancing like no one's watching. Each session offers a welcoming, inclusive environment for reconnecting with your moving body and meeting other bodies on the move. With brilliant music, and expert tuition
In partnership with West Cornwall NHS social prescribing and mental health support teams and their networks.

If you have a regular group that might like to host a bespoke body moving session or series, get in touch. I'm particularly interested in connecting with groups for whom 'this kind of thing' is not part of their usual activity, but who are curious about the new perspectives that 'this kind of thing' might offer.... Going, Going
A live performance, music and dance collaboration
Going, Going is a new live performance, a collaboration between experienced choreographer Kyra Norman and Emmy-award winning film and TV composer Barnaby Taylor, both based in West Cornwall, and working with an expanded community of professional dance artists aged between 20 and 70
Photos crowdsourced from the audience at our first performance, in June 2023, at the Acorn, Penzance, dancers: Sapphire Sumpter, Winona Guy, Lois Taylor, Kyra Norman, Katie Lusby, Olivia Walton, Claud Tonietto, Polly Motley, Kuldip Singh-Barmi, Harry Scott
Reflecting on Barnaby’s experience of composing for wildlife and nature documentaries (barnabytaylor.com/work) and Kyra's experience working with movement improvisation as performance, the starting point for this collaboration was an idea to create, for an audience, a sense of watching and hearing a slightly unfamiliar species: ourselves
Working with an intergenerational cast and cultivating shared practices of listening, sensing, and trust, the work invites a thoughtful contemplation of what it is to be human in these complex times: a celebration of co-operation, connection and care, in the midst of climate chaos and collapse

One. Another. is a live, improvised performance
- a series of live encounters and an invitation to consider the space between
...one idea, and another; one movement, and another; one body, and another...
doing and watching, being alongside difference, and co-existing on the move
